The next Sony Ericsson XPERIA won’t be made by HTC

The next Sony Ericsson XPERIA won’t be made by HTC - read the full textThe next generation of Windows Mobile powered devices by Sony Ericsson presumably won't be HTC-made. Instead, Sony Ericsson will entrust their new smartphone production to a Taiwan-based...

The headline is VERY misleading. The actual article itself talks about the next WinMo phone from SE, doesn't specify that that's the next Xperia. It then goes on to say that the next Xperia might not even be WinMo. And besides all that, the article starts with "presumably". There's been no confirmation, this seems to me like the author of the original article is doing nothing more than guessing here. I apologise to the author if this is not the case, but the only thing in the article that would point in anyway to it being correct is the mention of the company SE supposedly WILL be using, but I find it very dubious...

> In reply to Phil @ 2008-12-29 18:16 from mw2JThe stupid phone has nothing to boast, of, and its biggest drawback is the crappy Windows!!!
Who wants windows on their phones! Havnt we had enough of it on the computers?
The best phones are being made by those who have their own design, be it Blackberry, Nokia or Apple. The difference is so evident.
Phones running on 3rd party stuff is all 2nd rate

So it's not even released in Australia and they're already talking about the next one. Thanks SE.

Someone posted a comment about outsourcing. Why, where is HTC based? Still in Taiwan, correct?

based on test done by the NTC Quality Control Lab, Nokia Phones could only withstand the weight of a compact sedan (tested on Nokia 8800 Gold Arte). While other brands could even endure the weight of an 18-wheeler. Sony Ericcson boasted of having the highest mark on the preasure endurance test proving to be unbreakable up to 7000wps (the weight of a passenger ship. this was shocking but very true. the Reason why Nokia is still in the lead is because of its user-friendliness. But, nevertheless it is still considered as a disposable phone after a year usage.

My personal observation...Sony does not need to compete in the multimedia smart phone category. They kept their market high previously by launching good image models and great sound quality phones and should keep it that way. The K810 series was an ice breaket to the 3.2 mega pixels market before the Koreans march in with the 5 and now 8 mega pixels. After the success of K810 the W series was aggresive to increase more models into the market together with newer models like the G,S and C series. With so many offers consumers are still keen to wait for newer models from Sony because they focus very much on image quality and sound quality why do they need to outsource to HTC and manufacture a phone that is complicated.
