I just wanted to say I tried using this software but I got no signal after doing it, so I re-did it a second time and still no signal. I restored my iPhone 3G to factory settings and then did yellowsn0w and it now works fine! Unlock iPhone

It works allright.
First you have to upgrade to 2.2
Instal Cydia & instaler from Quickpwn22
Go to Cydia-manage-Sources-Edit-add-(tipe:apt9.yellowsn0w.com)
and follow it.
When its done restart your phone and change any sim card that you have.
Good Luck.Mine perfectly fine,(Once i instal Cydia & instaler my phone getting bit slow respond, and some time it crash). But thats OK.

The unlock works exclusively with baseband 02.28.00. This baseband is provided by the latest firmware update (2.2) from Apple. You’ll need to upgrade to this release using iTunes and then use QuickPwn to activate etc. There are plenty of tutorials about this on iclarified, bigboss, modmi and other established tutorial sites. Because it works on 02.28.00, it is available to everyone on the planet. This means we don’t need to unnecessarily expose holes in earlier basebands, which is an important concern.
The application is a small daemon that is launched on boot. It injects the payload at boot and also whenever there is a baseband reset. You won’t notice anything about it other than that your third-party sim now works. It’s a small program and unobtrusive. There is no GUI (this is by design).
You can add the application using the sources outlined below. There are Cydia and Installer sources available, so use whichever you are comfortable using.
yellowsn0w is completely removable through Cydia, the command line, and iTunes

I hate to say this, but in agreeance with someone else, aren't we supposed to be commenting about the topic at hand?! I own a Nokia, always have, but I couldn't care less how many units they have sold, or if they have the biggest market share, they probably do excel in many areas over other brands but seriously, this is supposed to be Project yellowsn0w. It extremely exciting that a FREE software unlock is available to owners of the iPhone. I have my own veiws of the iPhone itself, but who really cares?! Back to yellowsn0w, I think it's a first step to bigger and better things for the Dev-Team, and mobile phones go. This might be the breakthrough needed in other software projects that are being worked on at the moment.

Just to finish, I don't care if your right, wrong, for, against, or indifferent in regards to any particular brand, they are all peices of technology designed to fulfill one basic purpose, to connect people worldwide via the wonder of cellular communitcation.

> In reply to George @ 2009-01-02 15:03 from m5XdAt the time the article was written they had not worked out issues with the 2.2 update at that time.

Obviously they sorted out those issues as time went on and updated their information.

Remember, this is a beta work in progress.

> In reply to George @ 2009-01-02 15:03 from m5Xdthe unlock works exclusivly with firmware version 2.2 (baseband 02.28.00). I have been successfull in unlocking my iPhone 3g but many have been unsuccessful due to a few teething issues.
